Our MISSION

Harriet's Hike is an ecological literacy and rites of passage program for Black girls in Northwest Philadelphia. We study and explore the history of Harriet Tubman's journey through the Delaware River Valley with nature hikes, experiments, and farming.

Freedom Summer

August 2024

A six-week hiking intensive for Black girls to experiment with their practice of freedom. Girls will hike over 30 miles and cross several rivers as they explore their rich environments.

Harriet Tubman, born Araminta Ross, dreamt that she would have a place where Black people could learn & play freely. This is a freedom curriculum.
